Elton John Will 'Fill In' For Dion In Las Vegas

Rocket Man Expected To Make Announcement Next Month

Elton John will perform at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas on nights that Celine Dion is off, according to a report in the Las Vegas Sun.

The newspaper reported that John, whose real name is Reginald Dwight, will make the announcement Oct. 21 that he will play about 150 shows a year beginning in 2004 at Caesars. He is expected to be paid approximately $54 million for two years worth of shows.

Others expected to fill in at the Colosseum when John or Dion aren't peforming are Mariah Carey, Gloria Estefan and Jerry Seinfeld, the Sun reported.

Exactly when John will begin his stint is still in negotiations.

The Colloseum at Caesars was newly built and custom designed to house Dion's show, "A New Day," at a cost of $95 million. It seats more than 4,000 fans.

Meanwhile, fans still have plenty of time to see Dion. Her contract doesn't end with Caesars until 2006.
